Take smoking for an example.. why do we smoke? What is the actual process of smoking a cigarette? ... You inhale smoke from a tube of a bunch of papers and dead leafs lit of fire... And if only you'd realize, that your cigarette is actually partly pieces of wood...
Do we think about what we are doing when we smoke? Are we ever just thinking about that and nothing else as we sit alone and contemplate our actions.. completely focused on how the smoke is going down our throat, in agonizing screams, reaching our system and parts of it getting trapped there.. making us a bit less hydrated, a bit less alive... Knowing that being dehydrated is the situation of lacking water in our bodies.. And knowing that water is life.. It only makes sense to say that your body this way, would be lacking life... Now isn't that another form of saying your body was dying...?
But we realize it, and this is the sick part.. even if the thought is not fully in our consciousness , we realize unconsciously that this is a form of self harm.. and our bodies understand this and try as much as they can to fight it... Your body tries to yell at you in the morning when you wake up and find yourself barely breathing... tries to yell at you when you try to run or even do some minor physical activity... sounds monstrous.. growling ... dying... but you never really listen...
What your body never really understood, is why?.. why do you do it? why do you inhale death into your existence..?
All the sub-dimensions that live within you... infinite creatures that live within you never really understood why do you do it... You don't even understand why you're doing it either...
I bet it's that you never really just sat alone outside, lit yourself a cigarette.. and concentrated your thoughts on understanding why you are doing what you are doing...
When do you do it..?
What pushes you to it?
What happens right before your body asks for it...?
What do you feel when you treat yourself with a smoke...? and how does this act of harm calm you down and chill you out...
So to think, we get angry let's say.. and that anger manifests itself as means to rush us to harm ourselves under the pretense that this calms us down.. and when we do harm ourselves, we're overwhelmed with feelings of satisfaction and comfort, calming down all that built up anger...
Doesn't this sound very sick..?
Yet it's real... it happens...
And i'm not implying that smoking is the only act that can be considered amongst our daily self-harming sessions.. but it is one of many..
Self harm is more common than you may think... it's not about literally beating yourself up... but metaphorically, that would be exactly what you'd be doing...
Beating yourself up to ultimately lack life...
